Five years. Not so bad either in the grand scheme of life, though not being able to travel as I usually do is already driving me bonkers.

Oh, you like to travel? What kinds of places do you visit?

I do! Have since I was young. 

Anywhere I can, really. Mostly places in Europe, but I have visited the United States on several occasions.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I've never been outside of Japan.

Maybe you'll get the chance in the future. It really is more fun than you can imagine.

It sounds like it. Actually, I hear that some students at my school get to have internships in France.

Do you think you'd go if you were chosen?

I think so. I really would like to. And my brother would have wanted me to go.

Then I'd say you've got yourself something to work towards for when you get out. 

What kind of school were you going to?

Art school. I want to be a fashion designer.

Oh, that's brilliant! I'd love to see some of your ideas sometime. I'm a somewhat of a connoisseur of fashion myself, actually.

Oh, they're nothing special. But I guess it couldn't hurt to keep working on designs while I'm here.

No need to be so modest. I've no doubt they're absolutely fantastic.

I'm still just a first-year student! But maybe I can show you sometime.

Well, only if you want to. But I would enjoy seeing them.
